Aston House has a fully renovated Service Hall that offers our clients flexible options on when and how you celebrate the life of your loved one.
Exclusively owned and operated by Tranters, the building started life in 1967 as the New Methodist Church for the village of St Georges. Replacing the three existing Methodist Churches that were situated in Chapel Street, New Street and Church Street, this modern 200 seat building amalgamated the three congregations all under one roof. The Church was purchased by Tranters in 2023 and has since undergone a total transformation, and now offers Shropshire families the flexibility, space and modern features required to hold a fitting service.
Flexibility is the key to Aston House
The usual time restrictions associated with Funeral venues no longer exist. Families can choose from a variety of options to best suit their needs, from arriving up to an hour before the guests and mourners, or arriving in the traditional manner, a few minutes before the service commences, having congregated at the family home first.
Service times can be tailored to the needs of the family and not restricted by a limited time slot, and your loved ones Coffin can already be in place at the front of the Service Hall, or you can follow it into the building in the traditional manner.
Inside Aston House
Once inside, the Service Hall has all the facilities required, including a modern audio-visual system provided through our partnership with Obitus. Photographic tributes can be played on the screens provided and music tributes can be sourced through the extensive library provided by Obitus.
The Service Hall has a fixed Lectern and a portable Lectern, both with microphones available, and a stage area where Choirs or Musicians can perform.
Services
Outside Area
Following the service, mourners can move to an outside meeting area towards the rear of the building, where the Floral Tributes can be displayed and memories and stories shared. If the weather is poor, then it may also be possible to remain inside the building as there will not be another service following straight afterwards.
Reception Lounge
A place where family can gather and depart from prior to the Funeral.
In the event that you do not have a local address to meet at prior to the service, and therefore a family members home where the cortege would meet and depart, we can now offer our Reception Lounge at Aston House.
Visual and Music Tributes
Through our partnership with Obitus, we can provide a Live Stream Service, Music & Visual Tributes and a range of keepsakes.
Benefits of an Aston House Service
The table below, shows the benefits of holding a service in Aston House over a conventional service location such as a Crematorium Chapel. A large saving can be made when combining a service at Aston House followed by an ‘unattended Direct Cremation’ on a separate occasion (Usually the next day).
Whilst traditionally the cremation process would have taken place at the crematorium directly following the service, it is not always the case these days. The legal time limit to cremate is within 72 hours, once the coffin has entered a Crematorium building. Whilst this delay is unusual, it is often the case that the actual cremation process takes place the following day to the service having been held.

Aston House Reception Lounge
In the event that you do not have a local address to meet at prior to the service, and therefore a family members home where the cortege would depart from, we can now offer our Reception Lounge at Aston House.
For a small charge you will be welcomed at Aston House by a member of our team, who will assist you with parking, provide you with refreshments and remain with you until the Funeral cortege arrives at the front of the building prior to departure.
On sunny days there is a private outside patio area where you may prefer to gather. This option will be available for 1 hour prior to departure and is for a limited number of people.
Our Bereavement Café
A Safe Space for Shared Support
Our Bereavement Café offers a safe space in a welcoming environment where individuals can come together to share their experiences, listen to others and find comfort in mutual understanding. Whether you wish to talk or simply be in the company of others who understand, you are warmly invited to join us.
Held on the second Tuesday of the Month, between 10.00am and 12.00 noon, there is no need to book, just come along.

Memorial Services at Aston House
(Following an Unattended Direct Cremation)
A memorial service at Aston House would not include the formal parts of our Traditional Funeral, with no procession from the family home and no Coffin present at the service. It could however include your chosen music, eulogies and tributes, a visual tribute on the large screens and even the option of live streaming the service.
